What is Reiki?
Reiki is a simple, gentle, light touch, energy modality that is used for stress reduction and relaxation. It is known to support your ongoing wellness, as well as complement any medical or psychological care you are receiving from a licensed health care professional. Complete relaxation is beneficial to the healing process.
How is a session conducted?
We will have a discussion regarding what you would like to achieve from the session. You will be fully clothed with shoes removed while you lie on a comfortable table. I will use a combination of light touch hands-on and hands-off to channel the Reiki Energy; all hands-off is possible.
What will I experience during a session?
Typically, clients report that receiving Reiki energy brings on an overall feeling of peace or relaxation. Often they experience tingling or heat, as well as seeing colors or images. The recipient's beliefs and openness during a session dictate the experience. Clients have reported experiences ranging from reaching a level of relaxation never before achieved to very spiritual occurrences.
What result can I expect from a session?
This varies by individuals, but clients report improved sleep, ability to remain calm in previously stressful situations, and improvement in overall health. Note: Energy therapies do not take the place of medical care. It is recommended that clients see a licensed physician or licensed health care professional for any physical or psychological ailment they may have. Energy healing techniques should be used as a compliment to medical or psychological care. Patricia Parente Reiki does not diagnose conditions nor prescribe or perform medical treatment, prescribe substances, nor interfere with the treatment client is receiving from a licensed medical professional.
Is Reiki a religion?
The simple answer is no. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice; however, this is not a simple question. The translation of Reiki is Rei - Universal or Higher Power, Ki - Life Force Energy; Universal Life Force. It is not a religion, but speaks to all beliefs and religions. Any spiritual connection that may be possible during a session is dictated by the client, their beliefs, and their openness to what is possible.
Are you a medical practitioner?
As a Reiki Practitioner, I do not diagnose conditions nor do I prescribe or perform medical treatment, prescribe substances, nor interfere with treatment. Reiki does not take the place of medical care. The White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy classifies Reiki as an Energy Therapy.
How private is information about my sessions?
No information about any client will be discussed or shared with a third party without written consent of the client. A parent's or guardian's written consent is required if the client is under 18 years of age.
Is Reiki for Pets done only for cats and dogs?
Reiki will likely be welcomed by most types of pets (I had a fish that loved Reiki!); however, it is recommended to proceed slowly with any animal using a hands-off technique initially. The animal will guide the Practitioner as to when they may be ready for hands-on treatment. Distance sessions also work very well.
If I completed Reiki I studies with another teacher will I have to repeat that level with you before taking Reiki II?
If you studied Usui Reiki, received Reiki I training and the attunement in person from a Reiki Master Teacher, you do not have to repeat Level I before taking Level II with me; simply provide me with a copy of your Level I Certificate. If you can’t say yes to some or all of these prerequisites, it is best for us to discuss your previous Reiki I studies. Discussion will allow us to identify how I can assist you in fulfilling the prerequisites for Reiki II.
What is an attunement?
The Reiki Attunement is a sacred, spiritual initiation that connects the student with higher levels of consciousness and an unlimited source of healing energy. It heals and conditions the crown, heart, and palm chakras for their use in channeling Reiki. The ceremony is filled with beautiful symbolism and takes place after the successful completion of the class.
